According to Sacnilk, the movie made Rs 85 lakhs when it debuted on Thursday, the day before Anant Chaturdashi, and added Rs 90 lakhs to that total on Friday.

The Vaccine War saw an increase in viewers on Sunday, bringing its total to Rs 3.25 crore after an additional Rs 1.50 crore.

The film stars Nana Patekar, Anupam Kher, Raima Sen and Pallavi Joshi in the lead roles.

The comedic entertainer Fukrey 3 and the Chandramukhi 2 starring Kangana Ranaut provided competition for the film.

Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, The Vaccine War is based on the book ‘Going Viral’ by Prof Balram Bhargava, Director General – Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)

Vivek Agnihotri had said of the film, "There was a fight whether we will live or not during the Covid pandemic. There was a sizable group of individuals attempting to sell their own nation.

Ahead of the film’s theatrical release in India, Vivek Agnihotri and Pallavi Joshi had hosted special screenings of The Vaccine War in the US under the India for Humanity Tour.
